The other day I discovered badproxy.exe — which, btw, he makes great music and is also a really nice guy. (What’s the deal with all these dark industrial bass music peeps being so bloody nice?) — and it just so happened I was feeling a bit discouraged about my music when I found him and was chatting with him, and he gave me a simple piece of advice that is sort of obvious but that I also really needed to hear.
The advice was this:
You’re doing the right stuff. Just keep doing it.
— badproxy.exe (and also, like, a million other people over the years)
It’s really easy for me to fall into the trap of over-analysis and considering all the possibilities, variables, and edge cases, and I can get overwhelmed when I feel like there’s just so much to do and figure out and I’m a newb at most of it.
So if that’s how you’re feeling right now, I’ll relay the same advice: just keep your butt in the chair and keep trying. If you do that long enough, you’ll figure things out eventually.
It reminds me of one of my favorite mantras I heard in Optimize: work diligently, patiently, and persistently, and you’re bound to be successful.
And so I say to you, whatever it is you’re struggling well to do….
Just keep fucking going.
