Release — Symbiotic Dendrons

This song was written while reading Sue Burke’s “Semiosis” sci-fi series, which is about a planet with sentient trees and the tenuous-but-still-symbiotic relationship they develop with the humans who settle there, after a good deal of misunderstanding and inability to communicate (and also after some dead humans). I like the think this track conveys those feelings of hope, conflict, and desperation at different times throughout.

Semiosis is in my top few fav indie sci-fi books I’ve read this year; it was probably the most creative take I’ve seen on someone imagining unique manifestations of what intelligent life might look like. It inspired a sense of awe and wonder in me, akin to what I felt when reading Adrian Tchaikovsky’s “Children of Time” a while back. Defo worth a read if you’re into first contact novels.
